Right now, I'm really jonesin' for some Hawaiian BBQ. Kalbi ribs in particular. It's probably been over two months since I've sunk my teeth into fresh hot grilled beef ribs from the Kauai BBQ on Dana St. Dat schit reminds me of the many summer BBQs I attended while I was a kid. Good times and good eats.
***FUCK! >>> Went online to get the phone number and menu to order and the restaurant website reports that Kauai BBQ Grill is closed. WTF!!! That place has really excellent food at great prices. Plus it was a nice "mom & pop" joint... eating there felt like I was eating at home or at an aunts house. Much better than the chain-type Hawaiian BBQ places.
Damn, that sucks. And I'm still hungry.

TP roll over
While performing a #2, you tend to ponder about the simpler things in life. Well... either that or read a magazine or comic book. There are times when you drop your pants you find that you forgot to bring in reading material. During those inopportune moments, you have time to think about mundane things.
Today's random rambling: installing a new roll of toilet paper. IMHO, there's only one and proper way to do this >>> TP dispenses over, NOT under any circumstances, should it be installed to dispense under. No need to explain my reasoning because there's no need to explain. Common sense dictates that TP should be dispensed roll over. Nuff said!

$3.40 for a gallon of Regular Gas
It's summer. Peak season for vacations, road trips and weekend getaways. To get there, ya gotta feed the tank of your vehicle. Granted, I haven't driven or ridden any of my gas vehicles(damned broken leg!) but as I sit here on my couch, I had to check what the going rate is for regular gas. Gasbuddy.com reports the average today to be $3.40/gal for Regular. California, and the Bay Area in particular, is infamous for having a high cost of living. Living in a culture of the automobile, the price of gasoline is a lynch pin in that cost of living.
When I bought my truck back in 2000, vehicle gas mileage wasn't a major factor in my buying decision. Now eight years later, I would definitely put vehicle gas mileage at the top of my list of buying factors. I'd choose as gas frugal automobile and not a truck/SUV. Something like the Honda Fit.

My **Lame** Poetic Response
"sunday market"

Well then synner76, here's my response:
I find you lost
and take your hand
guiding you through the maze
hoping to avoid the Minotaur
in the end togther we find
peace
Wow, that's lame!!! I should just stick to reading comic books. I likes the pretty pictures and making up my own story cuz I can't read. LOL!!!

Outings
Sunday nite... watching Family Guy. It's a funny entertaining show but I sometimes think I'm killing brain cells. Anywho, I went out to Performance Bike with my girlfriend to help her pick up some parts. She wants to get into riding a bike for the health/exercise benefit. She picked up a gel seat and platform pedals to put on my commuter bike so she can ride it. Kinda sucks that I can't ride along with her. Maybe I can get one of those kiddie trailers so she can lug me along... cast and all.
This was maybe the third or fourth time I ventured out of my apartment (not counting my doctors visits). It's nice to go out into the public and socialize, albiet in a limited capacity. I think if I were ever stranded on a deserted island by myself, I wouldn't last a month. Well, maybe a month or two, hell, I've lasted this long locked up in my apartment.

07 update - bike/moto accident
Damn... it's been a while since I posted. Lot's of things have happened. Work is excellent... I love working at Amgen. Co-workers are great, work schedule is flexible and the work environment is relaxed. A welcomed change from being in the Army.
Since my last post, I've found an truely awesome girlfriend! Her name is Lee Anne Campbell. I met her online. Never thought I'd find a girl who I'd click with, who really appreciates me as I do her. I don't know how I'd feel once she moves outta my apartment. She's been shackin' up with me since the end of her spring semester of school and she'll move out at the end of the month into her own apartment. Or at least till I'm back on my feet... which leads me to my most important update...
On saturday, May 19th, while on a roadbike training ride preparing for the upcoming Tour de Cure with some Amgen co-workers I had a run-in with a motorcycle. I was following a fellow co-worker, Lou up Kings Mt Rd which wasn't on the planned route. We just wanted to check it out so we made our way up. We made it up to the Huddart Park entrance after the rather steep climb. We then decided to head back down and back on the original route. I lead the way and was having too much fun heading downhill (read: going way too fast) I was entering a blind right-hander a little too fast. I hit the brakes hard at the apex, then saw a motorcycle coming the opposite way, then I locked the brakes and slammed into the motorcycle. Hard. Then I must've spun around in mid-air finally tumbling to a stop on the opposite median. My helmet and sunglassed flew off during the spinning as did my left cycling shoe.
The ambulance took me to the Stanford Hospital ER where the took x-rays and put my leg in a temporary splint. I had broken both my tibia and fibula bones as well as part of my ankle. The ortho doc who saw me in the ER admitted me as they didn't want
perform surgery while the ankle was still inflammed and swelled. Surgery was then scheduled for monday June 21st. During that surgery, they performed an external fixation which in leymans terms means screwing metal rods and screws into the bones bracing them in a certain place til the next corrective surgery.
The second and final surgery was scheduled on monday, June 4th. They removed the external fixation and fixed the broken bones by shoring them up with stainless steel rods, bolts and plate. All that was wrapped up into a temporary splint til the
following thursday when the put my leg into a cast and released me from the hospital.
I paid Dr Chou a visit two weeks later for a check-up. They removed the cast so that the doc could visually assess my leg. All going well but she decided not to remove the metal staples and sutures until the next 2-week check-up. They put a new lighter cast on till then.
