$3.40 for a gallon of Regular Gas

It's summer. Peak season for vacations, road trips and weekend getaways. To get there, ya gotta feed the tank of your vehicle. Granted, I haven't driven or ridden any of my gas vehicles(damned broken leg!) but as I sit here on my couch, I had to check what the going rate is for regular gas. Gasbuddy.com reports the average today to be $3.40/gal for Regular. California, and the Bay Area in particular, is infamous for having a high cost of living. Living in a culture of the automobile, the price of gasoline is a lynch pin in that cost of living.

When I bought my truck back in 2000, vehicle gas mileage wasn't a major factor in my buying decision. Now eight years later, I would definitely put vehicle gas mileage at the top of my list of buying factors. I'd choose as gas frugal automobile and not a truck/SUV. Something like the Honda Fit.
