Sleepless nights...
Lately, I haven't been getting a normal nights sleep. I've been waking up two hours into the nite, in the middle of the nite, etc. When that happens I cruise the internet or if it's a nice nite, I'll hop on the Beemer and ride around town. There's no traffic which is good for me since I'm a nove rider. Only gripe I have is the supposedly automatic intersection lights. Damn things don't get triggered by motorcycles. I end up sitting at a light forever... sometimes I just keep making rights, cut thru parking lots or even run the damn things (only after scouting out the area for other motorists). Hope these nites don't become a regular occurence...

Love my Beemer, not so for the dealer.
I bought a 05 BMW F650GS Dakar motorcycle over the weekend and I'm having a blast riding it. I'm not riding all fast and floggin' the beast around town and trail just yet. Gotta get familiar and comfortable with it's quirks. Being a dual-sport motorcycle, I love the higher view the upright tall seating position affords. Kinda reminds me of being on the road or mountain bike. Kinda tower above the sightline and roofs of most cars... It's like being in a utility truck than a low sports car. The stock seat is just a bit high that I can only reach my balls of my feet to the ground so I ordered a lower seat from the dealer when I picked up the bike. I should be able to flat foot it during stops and gaining more confidence. But the dudes at the dealer didn't order the damn seat when I paid for and picked up the bike. That was last friday. Called the parts guy who said they'll order is tomorrow. WTF! I think somebody dropped the ball. Now I should expect it next tuesday about a week past the date it shoulda been in my hands. If it weren't for my current elation over the new bike, I'd be pissed. It does chap my ass just a bit though...

Mt Biking at Nite
Gonna do a nite mt bike race tonite. Should be fast and fun... course is in a local state park on dirt fire roads from the looks of the trail maps. I haven't ridden in this particular park as it's mostly geared towards families on the occasional bike rides, horse riders and hikers. The "trails" are rather sedate compared to the singletrack I'm used to tearing up. Bought a Niterider light for the bike and one to go on the helmet. Both should last the estimated hour or so for the 3 laps of the race. Damn, I was just thinkin'.... I haven't raced since '00.

#2 Pit Stop
I'm running this morning on the usual 5 mile route and in about a couple hundred meters from the start I get this sudden urge to take a dump. When it comes to bowel movements, I'm pretty regular... every morning after I wake up. But I didn't hit the throne and take care of business before running. Bad idea... Felt really uncomfortable. Musta been the chinese buffet lunch from the day before. So I take a slight detour to the closest building and hit the first latrine (what Army folks call a restroom). All three stalls, no TP. WTF! At this point General Tso wants out, so I run over to the next building. Muthafucka betta have some asswipe. I go thru the latrine door... first stall, no TP... second stall, no TP.... last stall. Remnants of a roll... fuck, it'll do. Copped a squat and had at it. Damn that shit stank!!!
After leaving my donation, I continued on. The rest of the run seemed to go at a faster pace... musta been the lack of discomfort or maybe it was the pound or so of sudden weight loss LOL!!!

***insert crazy frog ringtone***
Decided to pull the trigger on purchasing a motorscooter. My previous experiences on two-wheels are strictly limited to the human-powered variety... ie - my beautiful Bianchi Campione road bike and my countless fat-tired mountain bikes. Gonna pick up a fine specimen, a '05 BMW F650GS Dakar, dual-sport bike. I've seen countless Dakar Rallies on Speed Channel and the allure of the bike gots me excited. Can't wait to take it on some trails.
